This week we had the honor of presenting a special screening and after party for the documentary film “Ricky Powell: The Individualist” to celebrate it’s inclusion in the 20th anniversary Tribeca Film Festival. Of course only a film of epic proportions could even begin to capture the essence of the Funky Uncle, and Josh Swade delivers that and more with a journey through Ricky’s life that brings as many tears as laughs and paints Ricky as a much more complex character than most of us knew him to be. A packed house of Ricky’s friends and fam gathered at Le Bain to toast to his life and legacy for a night that was just as cinematic as the film it was celebrating! Special thanks to Slick Rick, Burb, Fruit Smash, Fat Tire, Joe’s Pizza, Maison Marcel, The Rickford Institute, and Good Luck Dry Cleaners for making a legendary night to honor a legend.
