This week we had the honor of presenting a special screening and after party for the documentary film “Ricky Powell: The Individualist” to celebrate it’s inclusion in the 20th anniversary Tribeca Film Festival. Of course only a film of epic proportions could even begin to capture the essence of the Funky Uncle, and Josh Swade delivers that and more with a journey through Ricky’s life that brings as many tears as laughs and paints Ricky as a much more complex character than most of us knew him to be. A packed house of Ricky’s friends and fam gathered at Le Bain to toast to his life and legacy for a night that was just as cinematic as the film it was celebrating! After 1 year, 2 months, and 2 weeks you can only imagine how beyond gassed we were to present our Family Reunion x Domino Tuesday x Jah Mama NYC Launch Party last night at Sweet Chick! All we can say is that this new post pandemic NYC is like a mix of Mardi Gras, Amsterdam and old New York in one, and we love it! Maybe it was the fact that exactly one year ago we were celebrating snowboarding and life together in Vail, Colorado for the #BurtonUSOpen and then the world suddenly shut down! After an entire year of living in a very different world we headed North to ride and celebrate what @jakeburton77 introduced to so many of us. Snowboarding and living it up to the fullest with our friends on top of a mountain. It was a pilgrimage to the home of snowboarding. The place some of us East Coasters call home or home base for the snowboard season.
