One of the raddest parts of The Hideout at The Fat Tire House during this year’s Burton US Open was the The LIFERS Project Tintype Studio. Hidden in an area of the house known as “The Bunker” and rumored to be the former quarters of the Secret Service when the house was occupied by President Gerald Ford, the Tintype studio was set up by LIFERS maestro Matt Alberts to capture the Open’s most iconic attendees in iconic fashion. Using a process called wet collodion that dates back to the mid 1800’s, Matt coated, sensitized, exposed and developed each plate on site to create the epic imagery.
